Claudine Bailey was not gifted with the perfect home during her formative years in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
At the age of 11, she visited her father with the intention of asking him to get her a pair of shoes so she could attend school.
She got no shoes but instead a barrage of expletives.
Ashamed, she ran towards a taxi and met a woman who became her foster mother.
Since that day 18 years ago, her life has been on an upward trajectory and she has chosen a career in law.
Bailey spoke to Loop News minutes before heading out of the island on Wednesday, following the launch of a non-government foster care programme spearheaded by Family Life Ministries.
