Mrs. Karlene Boyce-Reid

Mrs Boyce-Reid is a retired head of the Social Work Programme at the UWI, Mona Campus. She has served in the field of Social Work for over forty years, with particular focus on Clinical Social Work and Field Education. She has also served in a number of other capacities including Head of the Department of Medical Social Work at the UHWI and Consultant in the National Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation Programme. She also evaluated regional drug prevention projects. Though now retired, she is still engaged in various activities. She is Chairperson of the Board of Directors of St. Simon’s Basic School, which is a ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands and the Diocese’s representative on the Provincial Commission on Family Life. Karlene is also engaged in private counselling.

Mr. Arnold Aiken

Mr. Aiken is a professional civil engineer with over fifty years’ experience in the construction industry and has managed and constructed various building and civil engineering projects across the island. He is one of the founding directors of Family Life Ministries and still serves on the Board of Directors. 

Mr. Aiken is an Elder in his church and serves as director for a number of charitable organizations as well as private sector firms.

He has been married for over fifty years to Hope and they are parents of three adult children. They are blessed with five grandchildren.

Professor Maureen Samms-Vaughn

Professor Samms-Vaughn, a paediatrician, is Professor of Child Health, Child Development and Behaviour in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Child Health in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, UWI Mona. 

She was awarded a Carnegie Corporation Research Fellowship to read for a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Bristol, UK, where she also pursued clinical training in Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics. In 1993, Professor Samms-Vaughn was appointed Lecturer in Child Health, UWI and Consultant Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrician, University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). She was appointed Head, Department of Child Health in 2001. She established the Child and Family Clinic for developmental and behavioural disorders, directing this service since its inception. 

Professor Samms-Vaughn became the first Chairman of the Early Childhood Commission (ECC) and was awarded the Commander of the Order of Distinction for services to early childhood development and child health in 2007.

Dr Barry Davidson

Dr Davidson is a founding Director and CEO of Family Life Ministries in Jamaica, as well as a consultant to the Executive Team of the Jamaica Psychological Society. He holds a Doctorate in Family Psychology, majoring in Marriage and Family Therapy, from the Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. On August 6, 2014, he was conferred with the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander (CD) by the Government of Jamaica. He authored the well-known premarital Counselling manual “Before They Say I Do” and co-authored “Healthy Families: A Caribbean Perspective” with Mrs. Maureen Watson. He also co-authored “Answers to Questions Parents Ask” and “Questions on Love Sex and Marriage” with Dr. Faith Linton.

Dr Davidson is a committed Christian and father of three adult daughters from his 49 years marriage to Beverley, two biological and one foster. They now boast the title of “Grand Parents” with the joy of having seven grandchildren.

Ms. Clara Grant

Mrs. Grant brings to the FTC Team 25 years of experience in audit, with 10 years in external audit and 15 years as an internal auditor.   Her main area of expertise includes auditing using a risk-based approach.  Ms Grant experience in external audit includes auditing financial statements and preparing external audit reports. Her experience also includes preparing accounts for external entities.

Mrs. Grant has served as Treasurer on the Management Committee of the Galilee Basic School since 1998, where she is responsible for the administration of the school’s financial accounts.

Mrs. Angelina Azan

Mrs. Azan joined the FTC foster care programme during its conception stage shortly after 2008 when she returned to Jamaica, her homeland, from Barbados. She and her husband established a distribution and manufacturing company in Barbados and operated it for over thirty years. She was a co-director for the company and had responsibility for purchasing and marketing.

The desire of Mrs. Azan’s heart is to see Jamaica’s vulnerable children valued and given the best care possible. To this end, she serves passionately on both the Oversight and Fundraising Committees of the FTC programme.

She has three children (one deceased), seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Dr Colleen Gooden-Grant

Dr Gooden is the Psychiatrist for St. Catherine Community Mental Health Services. She has worked for the past twenty years in the parish as a pioneer in the development of their community service. She supervises the psychiatric services in St. Catherine, which include inpatient and outpatient care for adults and children; emergency and home-based care; group therapy and mental health promotion. She has a particular interest in community and hospital liaison psychiatry.

Dr Gooden has a small private practice in Kingston and is also a Board member of Family Life Ministries.

She is married with two children and enjoys walking and reading.

Mr. Andrew Cocking

Mr. Cocking brings to the FTC Team over 35 years of experience in banking, with over 33 years at the senior management level. He currently serves on the Boards of JMMB GROUP, INNOVATE10X, and Charity KIDNEY KIDS FOUNDATION. Mr. Cocking’s areas of expertise include treasury management, information technology, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, banking, finance, administration and emerging trends in finance & banking, with a particular interest in technology. 

Mr. Cocking has served on many boards in both the public and private sectors, including Cable & Wireless Jamaica Limited and HEART Trust NTA. As one of the founders of Capital & Credit Financial Group, he served as Deputy Group President of the Group. Prior to assuming this position, he served as President and CEO of Capital and Credit Merchant Bank for 11 years.

Mrs. Petriece Kameka

Mrs. Kameka is a Social Worker with over 14 years of service in community development. She served as a teacher at Glennuir High School and an Adjunct Tutor at the University of the West Indies in the Master of Social Work Programme.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of the West Indies.  She was also the recipient of the John Maxwell Award in the Master of Social Work programme at the University of the West Indies in 2014.

Mrs. Kameka brings to the FTC programme over a decade of experience in community development focusing on inner-city renewal and development. She is currently employed by the Social Development Commission, where she oversees development in the Downtown Kingston, Harbour View and Port Royal Development areas.

She is married with three children and enjoys community service and Christian fellowship.

Ms Jeanine Ewart

Ms Ewart has over 35 years experience in managing various manufacturing operations and served on a number of Boards, most notably; Industrial Chemical Co Ltd, Tanners Limited, Leder Mode Limited, Powertrac Limited, EXIM bank, Jamaica House Basic School and St Andrew Technical High School. 

Ms Ewart earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Tulane University; holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Shortwood Teachers College; a Masters in Instructional Technology from American Intercontinental University; and is a certified Real Estate Dealer with Coldwell Banker (Ja) Realty.

Negrita Anglin Chin

Mrs. Anglin Chin brings to the Committee over 25 years of experience in commercial/ investment banking, insurance and micro-finance credit, with over 15 years at the senior management level.  She also served in the food services industry focusing on business and product development for the international and domestic QSRs (quick service restaurants).

Mrs. Anglin Chin is a Rotarian and   currently the chairperson on the board of Praise Academy of Dance.  She is also a lead member of the Hospitality Ministry at Swallowfield Chapel.

Mr. Alston Stewart

Mr. Stewart has been a successful project management professional and businessman, operating at a senior level of the local business community and government for over 30 years.  He has been responsible for the implementation of several construction projects totaling several Billion Dollars (J$) serving as Project Manager, Construction Manager and Contractor. He uses techniques inclusive of detailed planning, deadline driven teamwork and appropriate technology, coupled with effective communication to ensure the desired results, with the client’s interest being absolute priority.  

Among his successful projects are hotels, residential developments and major infrastructure projects. He also has diversified experience at the senior management level, including six (6) years in public sector organizations and is particularly skilled at successfully directing large-scale multi discipline operations and projects.

Mrs. Patricia Burnside

Mrs. Burnside assumed the position of Social Worker for the FTC Foster Care Programme in February 2021. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Northern Caribbean University and has worked in the Child Care System for the past three years. She also brings to the Programme over seven years’ experience as a school principal. Mrs. Burnside currently volunteers at a children’s home in her spare time.
